Board games night
Needs 4 people
Two or three games, one of them short enough for latecomers. Four people is the sweet spot, six is the most before somebody stops playing and starts watching.
Things to do with friends, and how to actually make them happen
Ideas at home
Staying in is not the lazy option, it is the one that actually happens. No booking, no queue, no bill at the end. The trick is to give the evening one shape, so nobody sits in a circle asking what everyone feels like doing.
An evening at home works when it has a centre: a game on the table, a pot on the stove, a film everyone agreed on. Without one, people scroll. With one, the conversation happens around it, which is much easier than conversation on demand.
Say what the centre is when you invite people. "Board games at mine, Friday 8" gets a yes. "Come over sometime" never turns into a date.
The quickest way to lose an evening is one person doing everything. Split it in the invitation: one brings the game, one the snacks, one the drinks. Every hangout here has a chat, which is where that list belongs.
Tap one and the form opens with the activity and the number of people already in it. Share the link, and it's on once your people are in.

Needs 4 people
Pasta, curry, pizza on trays. Cooking gives everyone something to do with their hands, which is why it works even with people who have just met.
Needs 3 people
Everyone takes a turn to pick, nobody is allowed to complain. Pick the night first and the film in the chat during the week.
Needs 5 people
One country, one decade, one colour. The theme sounds silly and it is exactly what makes people come.
Needs 4 people
Last Card, poker with coins from a jar, or spin the bottle with questions. Cheap, loud and easy to leave.
Needs 5 people
Everyone brings five questions on their own subject. Nobody can revise for it, which is the point.
Needs 3 people
Nobody is tired at ten in the morning, and the whole day is still there afterwards. Weekend plans that start early get cancelled the least.
Needs 4 people
Put a laptop on the table and open a room for the ones who moved. Video, chat and a game in the browser, nothing to install.
How it works here
If too few people join, it quietly does not happen. Nobody shows up alone, and nobody has to cancel anything.
Create a hangout at homeTwenty to choose from, or name your own. The form opens with it already picked.
A board game night, a cooking night or a film with one drink after. Four is enough for every game worth playing and small enough that one table works.
Say what you are providing and ask for the rest in the invitation. People like bringing something, they just need to be told what is missing.
Pick one and send the link.
Free, nothing to install, and it's on once your people are in.

Nothing here yet — your conversations will be listed here.
Ask about anything here — what a table is, what's on this week, how to set one up. I can look it up for real.
